So… I finally got around to creating business cards.
Things have been a bit hectic here, but I really needed to get some cards made.
I used VistaPrint, since I’ve used them many times before for other various websites, and I’ve been very pleased with the results.
This was my first design… a black background with 5 images, and a one-color back with contact information. I couldn’t decide which images to use, and in turn, I think I made the card is a bit too busy. Overall, I didn’t think it was a bad design.

This is the online proof I received from VistaPrint. Right away I noticed that it wasn’t as bright or as clear as the original I had uploaded, but I really didn’t think the printed product would look as bad.

This is the final printed business card. When I received them, I was so disappointed. The overall appearance was nothing special — the images were dark, the words were dark… and the colors did not match the original.

I contacted VistaPrint immediately to tell them how unhappy I was with the business cards. They very nicely told me that they would allow me to redo them at no cost to me. She suggested I make the overall image lighter, but I knew that would make everything look washed out. So I designed a brand new card… this time keeping in mind that less is more.
This is the front of the new design. I was really happy with how it came out, but honestly was a little worried about how this would relay to the final product. I redid the one-color back, which included my contact information.

Here’s VistaPrint’s online proof of the new card:

VistaPrint shipped my new cards in about one week (verses my original shipment of two weeks). I was very happy with how these remakes came out.

Do you have business cards? Where did you have them done, and did they do a good job? I’d love to know.
